When the words Google and Penguin are spoken right now in the SEO industry there may well be an uneasy feeling in the room. However, despite what everyone is saying Google Penguin isn’t all that bad for SEO and in fact it’s raising the bar and ensuring that quality SEO is now being carried out. SEO Next explains further why Google Penguin shouldn’t have such negativity surrounding it.

For those who are not familiar with Google Penguin it is in fact the latest Google Algorithm change and as you well know Google will change their algorithms frequently in order to cut down on spam, penalise duplicate content and generally to ensure that a user of the search engine is presented with the best quality websites possible when typing in a keyword or search phrase.

Google Penguin has been put in place in order to crack down on unethical SEO practices in relation to underhanded backlinking techniques. In addition to the crackdown though Google is using Penguin as a way of rewarding sites for their focus on content and less on SEO tricks.

For ethical SEO Companies like us here at SEO Next then we have found the Google penguin beneficial not only because it catches out all those carrying out unethical link building but also because of the following reasons:

Authority

Now in the world of SEO, authority really does matter and the Google Penguin places focus on backlinks and how a website has gained link juice from these in order to enhance their page rank on Google. Now Google Penguin is placing emphasis on reputation and the quality of the site which is linking to your specific domain rather than the sheer number of links which are pointing in your direction.

Why is this good for SEO?

In relation to authority SEO experts are not going to be rewarded and see positive results for taking shortcuts when they link build. It is better for them to get fewer high quality links to their site than what it is to get millions of links from very low quality sites.

Content

The one item which many SEO experts will mention is the importance of content and believe it or not this is actually of extreme importance. If you do not place valuable, engaging and unique content onto your website then visitors are not going to stick around. Google Penguin now takes into account Latent Semantic Indexing and so now it is becoming harder to trick the search engine through the use of badly spun and very generic articles which make little sense.

Why is this good for SEO?

In relation to content the advice is to keep it fresh; SEO Next can help you ensure that your content is fully optimised so that it will have maximum benefit. In relation to new content what we also do is to carry out various article submissions on your behalf in order to gain quality links to your website.

Rewards for Backlinks which are Natural

Despite what people may tell you, there are no shortcuts when it comes to gaining organic backlinks. Reputable SEO experts like ourselves adopt a variety of techniques and methods and now with Google Penguin in place we are actually being rewarded for all of our hardwork.

Why is this good for SEO?

Ethical on-page optimisation and mixed anchor text is now being recognised and so sites operating ethical SEO practices are being given a chance against those sites who have resorted to SEO tricks in order to gain rankings.

Stability

Anyone like the team at SEO Next who live, eat, sleep and breathe SEO will know how important it is to keep on top of Google’s ever changing algorithms. However, it is these Algorithm changes which ensure high quality websites and businesses obtain the high ranking positions within the search results and in doing so, attract the relevant people to the website resulting hopefully in a conversion. When Google announces the release of an update mass panic suddenly emerges. This was the case with Google Penguin which had many unethical SEO companies panic because they were severely punished.

Stick to the Google Webmaster Guidelines however and there is no reason why you shouldn’t be taking the top ranking positions for your keywords with a little help from a professional SEO company such as SEONEXT.

If you are worried because you have been hit by Google Penguin and this has made you think about your SEO Provider then why not come for an informal talk with our team and see what we can do for you.
