We all are well aware of the power of SEO. And there is no better tool than Google Analytics to check, monitor and analyse the incoming traffic to your website. This post is the first in this 3 part series emphasizing on the various applications of Google Analytics.

Use your Gmail account or create a new account

- Type your website without http:///
- Enter your account name
- Select Country
- Select your Time Zone
1. Enter your first-name and last name and select your country then click on “ Yes, I agree to the above terms and conditions.” Check box
2. Next option is ..what are you tracking…. Google analytics provide three options
a) Single domain
b) One Domain with multiple sub-domain…
c) Multiple top-level domain
you will be select any-one of these … and if you want to track adwords with google analytics ….. click on check-box I want to track AdWords campaigns

Once you find the code snippet, copy and paste it into your web page, just before the closing </head> tag. If your website uses templates to generate pages, enter it just before the closing </head> tag in the file that contains the <head> section. (Most websites re-use one file for common content, so it’s likely that you won’t have to place the code snippet on every single page of your website.)
Click on Submit and finish Button
Congratulations! Google Analytics account set up is finished. Now you just need to paste the tracking code onto every web page you want tracked

1. Visitors Overview
- How many visitor landed on your site in one month
- What Langauge Visitor use
- What network locations are they coming from
- What browsers are the using to view your site
- What screen colours are they using
- What is the visitors screen resolution while viewing your website

- what internet connection speeds do they use

Benchmarking is an optional tools Google Analytics service that shows how your website’s statistics compare against other industry verticals
Map Overlay
Analytics allows you do pinpoint geographically where your visitors access your website from through what it calls ‘Geotargeting’. The Visitors Map Overlay can be accessed by clicking on the ‘Visitors’ section, then the top ‘Visitors Map Overlay’ link just underneath it.
The default view Analytics gives you is of a world map with the Country/Territory view, which will have countries rendered with varying shades of green. The darker the colour, the greater the percentage of visitors come from that particular country. Here is an example of what that overview may look like.

New vs. Returning
Next report after map overlay is New vs Returning Visitor.
If someone visits your website at work, and then goes back to the site once they get home, then they’re counted as a new visitor because there’s no tracking cookie on their home computer.
Basically anyone within your company will go to your website regularly to check on and update data. That can artificially boost your return visit count

Visits: Visits link shows the total number of visit to your website during the selected.

Time on Site: Here, you will learn how long users spend viewing your site
