Fashion on an SEO blog, huh? :P ?

Not really, Basically white hat seo and black hat seo are two different methods of SEO. Rather  in simple words one is the legal way of doing things and the other is on the flip side of the coin, which is the illegal way (and mind you, Big G plays the role of the cops here…) .

While the White Hat relates to doing every thing as google encourages (wants)  people to do, on the contrary,  black hat means playing smart with the same cops.

Black Hat SEO

Many people who do Black hat earn BIG money, which can be any where from a few hundred to a few hundred thousand £ every day (yes its true!!!) but anything which comes fast vanishes even faster. So got your mind ticking .. ? What the heck if you can get a few hundred thousand £ a day who cares about it being short lived ? Nah.. its no picnic as well, succeeding in black hat seo means winning in the mouse and cat game where you are the mouse and there are millions of cats (Google’s top engineers) who are trying to catch hold of you working day in and day out. Also it would involve a lot of trial and error and untiring dedication and last but not the least, if you plan to wear a black hat you have to simultaneously wear your “thinking cap” all the time, rather let it work overtime for you.

Mostly black hat people try and work not with 1-2 sites but they work with a few thousand sites trying to generate a few million pages, in the quest of generating unique keyword focused content using markov content generators like RSSGM  or any other methods which have the capability to create tonnes of content in a few seconds. After content they move on to links which again includes spamming anywhere and every where..

So now you know why you get hundreds of spam comments on your blog ? Thanks to the blackhatters …A very famous blackhat link generation tool is Xrumer (which has the capability to spam your website’s link on thousands of forums in less than a minute’s time (including profile creation, email confirmation and every thing).

The synonym of blackhat is Automation, now don’t confuse my words here that anything which is automated is blackhat, but the vice-a-versa has to be true to make black hat work. Most of the big black hat players don’t use the tools available in the market, in fact what ever is available in the market and posted on blogs is mostly outdated and does not work any longer and is just a fame generation technique by people like Eli (no offence mate). If you really wish to do black hat seo you need to  master the  2 arts, one obviously is out of the box thinking, and second is automation of thoughts. Better still if you can do the automation bit yourself rather than being dependent on some one else to do it for you.

So in short, automate content, automate links, leave no foot steps, and you are done :P Sounds simple ? Go give it a try ;-)

(I take no responsibility for any one trying anything and getting caught by FBI or screwing up his/her site).

Grey Hat SEO

After black and before White there is a colour in between which is Grey.

Most of the  folks and seo companies are today tagged in this GREY Shade. They don’t do anything black but the stuff done by them is not pure white. Exchanging links, using networks for link exchange, paid links, keyword stuffing all forms a part of the grey hat seo. Its not black but at the same time its not completely white as well. Its really tough for google to detect the Grey hatters due to its close proximity with the white hat, but in recent times google even goes to the extent of manual reviews for penalizing sites (don’t remind me of it :D ).

White Hat SEO

Finally we move onto white hat, Now this is some thing which is tough to accomplish. That being said good things don’t come easy in life.

The absolute white hat way of doing things would mean we’ll have to forget that a Assistant Noun like google exists. We’ll have to get all original and  build our site and content for the people ourselves.

However, just  take care of the basic onpage factors and concentrate on giving knowledge to the society, and that will automatically build a very natural link profile for your site and you will start ranking at the top on search engines. A good way of doing white hat seo is after building good content, promote it through social media. Good things don’t take time to go Viral, and once anything is viral it will generate a lot of traffic for your site on the internet and blogosphere and result in high rankings.

Carving a niche is not all  that difficult either, specially when it promises a rich harvest in the end. All the people who have good and established businesses are recommended to go the white hat way while doing seo for their websites . This will build a solid foundation for their websites and anything cemented with efforts and honesty will have a lasting impact.

Do not try any black hat methods if you love your website, black hat methods are not for website lovers, they are for web casanovas who treat websites like girlfriends with no strings attached. If you are some one who enjoys commitment black hat is not your cuppa.

If you want to outsource the work to some seo company, just make sure that they do not slide towards the grey side of things.

I’ll be writing a post about how to chose the right seo company soon where I’ ll delve deeper  into the interesting  details.

Please feel free to post  your commnets and feel free to agree or disagree to anything I have said.

I’ve been doing Black-hat for quite some time, and no matter how you put it, there is no gray shade. There is only white, and black.

Its not exactly illegal either, but its against google’s rules. However, being a black-hat dose not necessarily involve spamming, because that is likely to have short-term effects.

But if you place links carefully in forums, they not only last longer, they will also be impossible to tell apart from “natual” links, because they are natual links them self, often just recommending another source.

The only place where it becomes a problem, is when SEO-idiots place their links to their useless spam-sites. How to make money online, made for adsense etc. Generally all sites who deceive the users.

Now, buying links dose not necessarily harm your site, given that your site met the big quality tag. Google are very unlikely to hit you, because you buy links, there are many obvious reasons for this, which i wont get into now.

You should always care about the sites that you are optimizing, otherwise you just risk screwing up, and get it devalued (or worse), removed entirely from the index. White hatters are just ridiculous, because they don’t know what they are missing out on.

Besides, there is no reason why you shouldn’t sell a link on your site, if that link is useful for your visitors. Just don’t sell junk, because if you do sell Junk, then you better prepare for the health inspector.

    Hi MontaSEO,
    Thanks for your comment…
Yes you are right, black hat is surely not illegal, but Big G is one company who wont give you a reason why they penalized your network/site.

I disagree with you that White Hatters are ridiculous because they end up building long lasting VRE, have a look at people like michael arrington (techcrunch.com) whose one blog post can make shares of google fall down..

As per you he will be one of the “ridiculous white hatter” who does not know what he is missing out on :P ?
